WANTS: To get the word out that yoga is available to everyone & acknowledge there is a way of doing yoga that isn’t only for the glamorous.
We would like to thank you for supporting Lesa Kingsbury in this year's competition. Your support enables our company to contribute to the Veterans Yoga Project, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization supporting recovery and resilience among our veterans, families, and communities.
Yoga was and continues to be the vehicle for my transformation. Hesitation, illness, weakness, sadness, and anger becomes inspiration, strength, beauty, calm and wisdom. Everything is in flux – unending movement. The body takes us from here to there. The breath is making it's way in and out whether we direct it or not. So, the choice is ours: move in a way that creates PEACE or CHAOS. More joy for me though is in sharing how yoga can empower you, the student despite life's challenges.
Find your breath, feel your feet! ~ Hold that thought, lets find another way to do this! ~ It is not the critic who counts; not the one who points out how the strong stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the one who is actually in the arena... (the first two I credit myself, the last mantra I credit to my childhood hero Teddy Roosevelt)
I would use the funds to develop a teacher training course that embodies the approach I bring to my work. This way more teachers will be able to teach in a way that is inviting with the use of empowering sequencing, alignment principles, chairs, and props. Students are safer, heal and strengthen more productively and the practice is accessible to to a broader group of people. We need teachers in additional venues to reach these people. Any remaining funds will be used for teacher scholarships.
