I want to people to know yoga and wellness can be approachable for all who want to explore and enhance their physical & mental health.
We would like to thank you for supporting Shirley Fee in this year's competition. Your support enables our company to contribute to the Veterans Yoga Project, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization supporting recovery and resilience among our veterans, families, and communities.
When I started my yoga journey over 20 years ago, I was a single mom working a full time job and in need of some activity I could call my own. I started yoga through the town recreation department which became my weekly respite from life stressors. I grew to appreciate the affects that it had on my mind and my body from a movement/flexibility perspective. Then one day someone I worked with commented that I seemed different, a little less stressed and I knew that was due to my yoga practice.
I wish I could say there was just one, but there really are so many. I think it is - in stillness you find answers. Being so busy in my life with a lot of responsibilities it is easy to get caught up in the rush of the world. I think for me I need to create time for stillness and the answers, creativity and ideas do come.
I am co-owner in UNWIND Yoga & Wellnes Center located in New Providence NJ. Like all studios during COVID, we have had to pivot and adapt to new ways of reaching our students to keep our studios open. This year has been very challenging, but the silver linings are the new avenues with which to share yoga and wellness with the world. I would use this money to expand our ability to deliver quality classs, workshops, and trainings to the yoga community and beyond.
